The internet is a powerful tool to use for marketing purposes because you can reach lots of people with low cost and free marketing methods. These are some simple, yet effective, marketing ideas your company can use.

Create and regularly update a blog about your business. Let people know all about your company. Invite comments from visitors and write relevant articles to help customers gain better knowledge of your niche.

Use the massive power that Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn provide to enable you to reach out to people and share product knowledge, helpful advice and general interest information. Each of these social media sites works differently so you need to formulate alternate plans to maximize the potential that each site offers you.

Offer discount vouchers and/or freebies on your website. They could be for products you sell or for related products and given if your customer buys goods from you. For example, if you’re selling ebooks on your niche, offer a free ebook for every customer who buys your product. You could also offer physical freebies if that’s practical for your organization. Perhaps ship a physical copy of a digital product the customer buys so they have both versions.

Offer your customers a free product if they refer people to you who become customers. Providing incentives for referrals is the fastest way to entice people to spread the word about you because they benefit too.

Donate a portion of your company’s profits to charity. Make it very public that you’re doing so. For example, you’ll donate $X or X% of every purchase made by your customers. Choose a worthy charity most people would be willing to support and you’ll find that more people will become customers so they can indirectly help the charity without extra effort on their part.

Run regular contests. For every purchase customers make over a certain dollar amount, they receive a ticket into the contest. If you make the prizes worthwhile, more people will become customers and some customers will increase their spending just to have a chance of winning the competition. The extra sales will hopefully more than cover whatever great prizes you choose to offer.

Create videos of people using your products and post them on your website. Sometimes it’s easier to sell something if customers can see it before they buy it. You can also do this live in stores with a demonstration person using the product. It’s a tried and true method of boosting sales for that particular item. It also gets them into the store where it’s highly likely they’ll spend more money as well.

This may sound obvious but lots of people DON’T do it. Have a list of your products on your site WITH PICTURES and descriptions as well. The combination of the two elements usually leads to more sales.

There are loads more marketing ideas you can try but these are a few just to kick start you onto the right path.
